Individual therapy
Unlock Your Path to Health and Growth
What is Individual Therapy?
Individual therapy, often referred to as talk therapy, is a personalized therapeutic process where a patient works one-no-one with a therapist who has been trained in mental health treatment. This approach provides a safe, collaborative, and confidential environment to explore feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and foster personal growth.
Benefits of Individual Therapy
- Personalized Support: Tailored to your unique experiences, individual therapy addresses your specific needs and goals. At Rosecrans & Associates, we perceive our patients as the expert in their own lives so we can work collaboratively with them to fit their individual values and preferences.
- Emotional Healing: It provides a confidential and safe space to process emotions, facilitating healing from trauma, loss, and stress.
- Enhanced Relationships: Therapy can help improve communication skills and relationship dynamics, fostering healthier connections with others.
- Stress Reduction: Learn effective techniques to manage anxiety and stress, contributing to overall well-being.
- Symptom Reduction: Therapy can provide support and skills to reduce the intensity and impact of symptoms on one’s life.
- Knowledge and Skill Acquisition: Therapy provides education about symptoms, diagnoses, and the treatment to help understand their behaviors, emotions, and relationships and to help build coping skills.

The Therapy process

- Goal Setting: Together you will establish specific goals for your therapy journey and adjust those goals as needed.
- Therapeutic Techniques: Various therapeutic modalities may be used, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, existential/humanistic approaches, exposure with response prevention (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), family systems therapy, narrative therapy, and cognitive processing therapy.
- Regular Sessions: Sessions typically last 53-55 minutes and occur weekly or biweekly, depending on your needs.
- Progress and Evaluation: Regular check-ins will help you assess your progress and adjust goals as necessary
Choosing the Right Therapist
When seeking individual therapy, consider the following:
- Credentials: Look for licensed professionals with relevant experience and specializations. If they are not yet licensed, inquire about who is supervising them and the supervisors’ credentials and specializations.
- Therapeutic Approach: Find a therapist whose methods resonate with you. To learn more about our therapists approach, go to our Provider page to read each therapist’s profile.
- Comfort Level: Trust and comfort with your therapist are essential for effective therapy.
“Finding the right therapist is like finding a pair of shoes. You have to like the style and they have to fit.”
– Dr. Rosecrans
If at any point, you do not feel the therapist is a good fit, please reach out to our office to inquire about transferring to another therapist, or inquire about a referral to another therapist outside of Rosecrans & Associates. The right fit with a therapist is very important to successful therapy treatment. Our therapists will not take offense or be hurt by a choice of patients who do not want to work with them, as our therapists understand they may not be the best fit for someone.
