Child & Teen Therapy

Helping Your Child Thrive

What is Child and Teen Therapy?

Child therapy is a specialized form of mental health treatment designed to help children navigate emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. Whether your child is facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or difficulties in school, our compassionate approach creates a safe space for healing and growth.

Why Choose Child Therapy?

  1. Emotional Support: Children often struggle to express their feelings. Therapy provides them with the tools to understand and articulate their emotions.

  2. Behavioral Management: Our therapists work with children to develop coping strategies and positive behaviors, helping to reduce issues like impulsivity, aggression, and withdrawal.
  3. Skill Development: Through play based therapy and structured activities, children lean essential life skills, including problem-solving, social interaction, and emotional regulation.

Signs Your Child May Benefit from Therapy

  • Persistent sadness or irritability
  • Changes in sleep or appetite
  • Withdraw from friends and activities
  • Academic struggles or behavioral issues in school
  • School refusal
  • Physical complaints not cause by a medical condition (i.e., frequent headaches or stomach aces)
  • Difficulties coping with significant life changes

The duration of therapy varies on the child’s needs, but many children benefit from a few months of regular weekly sessions.

Do I need to be involved in my child’s therapy?

Parental involvement is often crucial. We encourage communication and collaboration to ensure the best outcomes for your child

Can I come to the appointments?

Yes, we encourage the parents to attend the initial appointment so the therapist can ask questions the child or teen may not be able to answer. The therapist will want to explain the diagnosis and treatment plan near the end of the initial appointment, and answer any questions. The therapist may want inform the parent(s) about the plan or homework for the week at the end of each session.

Will I be informed of how my child is doing?

Yes, depending on your child’s age. If your child is under the age of 12 years old, you are allowed access to medical records, diagnosis, treatment plan, and progress in treatment. If you child is 12 years old or older, state and federal laws restrict parental access to certain information without the child’s consent.

How much will therapy cost?

The cost of therapy can vary by insurance plan. We accept out of network benefits and self pay if our therapist is not in network with your insurance plan. If you would like more information, please contact our office.

Are you in network with my insurance?

Our therapists are not in network with any Medicaid plans. Please contact our office to verify if our therapists are in network with your insurance carrier/plan.
