Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Counseling
Anxiety is a normal life experience. You may have felt anxiety doing school work, before making an important decision, on a rollercoaster, or addressing a problem at work. It is temporary worry or fear, and will go away once the stressor is gone. People with GAD experience anxiety that does not go away and may get worse over time even after the stressor is gone.
GAD consists of the following symptoms:
- Excessive anxiety or worry for most days for the past 6 months
- Difficulty controlling their worry
- Feeling restless, wound up, or on-edge
- Being easily fatigued
- Difficulty concentrating or one’s mind going blank
- Being irritable
- Having muscle tension
- Sleep difficulty, such as trouble falling or staying asleep, restlessness, or unsatisfying sleep
